Managed guest marketing

The guest marketing team your restaurant doesn’t have to hire.

Compliments Studio runs the work most restaurants never get to: knowing your guests, bringing the right ones back, and answering every review like a person. We operate the Compliments OS platform on your behalf — strategy, execution, and reporting included.

For independent restaurants and multi-location groups. No in-house marketing team required.

Why we exist

Great software still needs someone to run it.

Most restaurants don’t have a marketing director. The guest data sits there, the reviews pile up, and the email that should have gone out in March goes out in July — or never.

Compliments Studio is the team that does it. We’re hospitality marketers who work inside the Compliments OS platform every day, so nothing we recommend is guesswork about your guests. You approve the work. We do it.

What we do

Everything between the guest data and the guest coming back.

Take the whole program, or the one piece your team keeps running out of time for.

Guest data onboarding

We connect your reservation platform, POS, and review profiles, then do the unglamorous work — deduplicating guests, reconciling names, and turning years of scattered activity into profiles your team can actually use.

Audience & segmentation strategy

We define the segments worth talking to — lapsed regulars, high-check occasion guests, wine buyers, first-timers who never returned — and keep them current as behavior changes.

Email & SMS campaigns

Written, designed, scheduled, and sent — welcome notes, win-backs, birthday and anniversary touches, event invitations. Triggered by real guest behavior, not a blast calendar.

Review & reputation management

Every review read, prioritized, and answered — with the guest’s visit history in hand. Negative experiences escalated to your GM the same day, and service recovery tracked to see if they came back.

Local search & Google Business Profile

Hours, menus, photos, and attributes kept accurate across locations — because the guest who can’t find your patio hours books somewhere else.

Service moments & staff enablement

We turn guest intelligence into something your floor team uses — pre-service briefings, VIP protocols, and the small scripts that make recognition feel natural rather than rehearsed.

Reporting & attribution

A monthly read on what actually happened: who came back, which campaigns produced reservations, and where the next month’s effort should go.

Content & creative

Photography direction, menu and event copy, and the seasonal assets your campaigns need — produced in your voice, not a template’s.

Creator programs & answer-engine visibility

Sourcing and hosting the right local creators on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram — so your rooms show up when a guest asks an AI where to eat tonight, not just when they search. Read our point of view →

How we work

Set it up properly once. Then run it every month.

  1. 01

    Assess

Two weeks. We audit your guest data, reservation setup, review history, and current marketing — then show you what’s actually in there. Most operators are surprised by how much they already have.

  2. 02

    Connect

We stand up Compliments OS above your existing stack, unify guest records, and agree on the segments, brand voice, and approval rules your team is comfortable with.

  3. 03

    Operate

Every month: campaigns planned, written, approved, and sent. Reviews answered. Service moments briefed to your floor. You stay in approval, not production.

  4. 04

    Report & adjust

One clear monthly review of return visits and campaign performance — including what didn’t work. We change the plan based on what your guests actually did.

Creator content & AEO

Guests used to search for a restaurant. Now they ask for one.

Ask an assistant where to eat in your city tonight and it will name two or three places. It assembles that answer from creator video, editorial, forums, and reviews — not from your website. We build the material those answers are made of.

How it worked

“Best Italian in Charleston” returned ten links. You competed for a position on the list, and the guest chose from the list. Being sixth still put you in the running.

How it works now

The same question returns a short answer naming two or three restaurants. There is no list to be sixth on. You are either in the answer or you are invisible.

SEO gets you indexed. Brand gets you remembered. AEO gets you chosen.

Creator video is rarely the citation. It is what produces the citation.

This is the part most agencies skip, and it is the part that matters. A video almost never gets quoted directly in an AI answer. It works by creating four things that do.

  1. 01

    It creates crawlable text

A YouTube video carries a title, a description, chapters, and a full transcript — all indexed by Google and readable by the systems assembling answers. A great Friday service is not machine-readable. A ten-minute video about it is.

  2. 02

    It creates branded demand

People who watch start searching your name specifically. Branded search is one of the strongest available signals that you are a considered choice rather than a listing.

  3. 03

    It gives editorial a reason

Local food press and national roundups cover what already has momentum. Those articles are among the most frequently cited sources when an answer engine recommends a restaurant.

  4. 04

    It seeds where people cross-check

Reddit threads, city forums, and comment sections are where a guest verifies a recommendation before booking — and increasingly where the recommendation came from in the first place.

Three platforms, three different jobs. Only one of them is genuinely an AEO play.

We use all three. We are specific about why, because they are not interchangeable and most proposals pretend they are.

The one that compounds

YouTube

What we make: “where to eat in [city]” roundups, chef and kitchen features, tasting walkthroughs, neighborhood guides.

Why it matters: it is the only one of the three whose content is fully readable as text from the outside. Transcripts and descriptions get indexed by Google and consumed by answer engines. A good video keeps working for years.

The trade-off: slowest to produce and the highest cost per placement. It is also the least familiar platform to restaurant marketers — which is precisely why the space is still open.

The one that creates demand

TikTok

What we make: dish-level moments, the room at eight o’clock, the thing someone screenshots and sends to a friend.

Why it matters: for diners under about thirty-five it functions as a search engine, not a feed. It is also where the demand spike starts that gets you written about everywhere else.

The trade-off: poorly readable from the outside, so it rarely becomes a citation directly. Content decays in weeks rather than years.

The one that closes

Instagram

What we make: the material a guest checks after they have heard your name and before they book.

Why it matters: the highest-intent surface of the three. It is where a decision that started somewhere else gets confirmed.

The trade-off: the least crawlable of the three by a wide margin. Treat it as conversion and brand, not as an input to answer engines.

You can’t ship a dining room.

A snack brand mails a six-dollar sample to three thousand creators and waits. Your sample is a table on a busy night, a kitchen’s attention, and a comped check — twenty to fifty times the cost, and it only works if the creator can physically get there. That single fact changes the entire program: broad outreach isn’t just less effective, it’s financially impossible.

  1. 01

    Map the local pool

Creators within driving distance of each location — food, lifestyle, and city accounts — scored on how much their audience actually overlaps your guest base. Follower count is close to irrelevant.

  2. 02

    Match to the room

A tasting-menu room and a neighborhood trattoria need different creators. We build a shortlist per property and treat it the way you would treat a guest list.

  3. 03

    Host, brief, don’t script

A dated visit your floor team knows about, a point of view on what to notice, and creative control left with the creator. Scripted content reads as an ad and performs like one.

  4. 04

    Publish, then extend

Usage rights agreed up front so the strongest pieces run as paid social, live on your own channels, and get pitched to local press — where they turn into the citations that actually feed answers.

What we report instead of impressions.

Impressions were always a weak proxy. In a world where the answer arrives pre-assembled, they are close to meaningless.

  1. Answer presence. Whether you get named when someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google’s AI for a recommendation in your category and city. We test the prompts your guests actually use.
  2. Share of voice. How often you appear relative to the restaurants named alongside you.
  3. Branded search. People searching your name specifically — the clearest sign the work is creating demand rather than borrowing it.
  4. The content library. Videos live, views, and cost per view. This is the asset you keep when the engagement ends.
  5. Reservations and return visits. The trailing indicator — and the one we can actually attribute, because Compliments OS can tell you whether a guest who first arrived during a creator push ever came back.

This is not free organic growth.

It requires real budget in four places, and we would rather name them now than surprise you in month two.

  • Comped coversFood and labor cost
  • Creator feesFlat fees, sometimes commission
  • Editorial placementWhere we pursue press
  • Program managementSourcing, briefing, tracking, rights

You are not buying traffic. You are building a visibility asset that keeps working after the spend stops — which is the one thing paid advertising never does. Think of it as planting trees, not renting billboards.

What progress looks like

  1. Months 1–2

Seeding. First creator visits booked and hosted, first videos live, measurement and rights infrastructure in place.

  2. Months 3–6

Accumulation. Review and roundup content builds up. You start appearing in category answers. Branded search begins to move.

  3. Month 6 and beyond

Compounding. You become one of the default names in answers about your city and category — and paid channels get cheaper because people already recognize you.

This is a slow build. Anyone promising answer-engine visibility in thirty days is describing something else.

What you own at the end

The point is to leave you with an asset, not a report.

A creator program is only worth running if something durable survives it. These are the deliverables we commit to — not projected outcomes, which depend on your rooms, your market, and how much creator supply exists near you.

We will not quote you a view count or a visibility lift before we have run a month in your market. Any agency that does is quoting someone else’s restaurant.

  • Video libraryCreator work you hold usage rights to, organized and reusable across paid and owned channels
  • Local rosterA vetted, scored creator list per location, with the notes on who worked and who didn’t
  • Answer baselineWhere you stand today in AI answers for your category and city, remeasured monthly
  • Rights recordsDocumented usage terms per creator, so nothing you paid for becomes unusable later

Who we serve

You probably recognize yourself here.

The independent with no marketing hire

Your GM is doing email between shifts. Reviews get answered when someone remembers. You know your regulars, but nothing captures it. We become the function you were never going to staff.

The growing group outpacing its systems

Three locations became seven, and the guest knowledge stayed in the first room. We build the group-wide view and run the programs that make the third location feel like the first.

The operator with data and no time

You have years of reservations, a full POS history, and hundreds of reviews. It’s all sitting there. We turn it into audiences, campaigns, and return visits.

The advantage

We run on our own platform.

Most agencies work from an export. We work inside Compliments OS — the same guest intelligence layer we build — so every recommendation is grounded in what your guests actually did, not a quarterly spreadsheet someone pulled in March.

When the engagement ends, the platform and the guest profiles stay yours.
