Comparison

Your POS knows the check. It does not know the relationship.

POS-native marketing is convenient and inexpensive, and for a single-concept operator on one POS it is often enough. Multi-concept groups tend to outgrow it in a specific, predictable way.

When POS-native marketing is the better answer

If every one of your locations runs the same POS, and the campaigns you want to send are driven by spend and frequency, using the tools already bundled with your POS is the pragmatic choice. It is cheaper, there is nothing new to integrate, and the data is already there.

It is a genuinely reasonable place to start, and we would rather you start there than buy something you do not need yet.

The difference

Where it stops being enough

Acquisitions rarely share a POS

The moment a group grows by acquiring a concept, it usually inherits that concept’s POS. Guest data then lives in two systems that do not know about each other, and the group-wide view quietly stops being accurate.

A check is not an occasion

The register records what was spent. It does not know the table was booked for an anniversary, that the party asked for a quiet corner, or that this guest left a two-star review last month. Those live in the reservation system and on Google.

Reviews are part of the relationship

A guest with eight visits who leaves a two-star review is a service-recovery situation, not a support ticket. That connection only exists if reviews and visit history sit in the same place.

Cross-concept recognition

A guest who visits three of your concepts is one relationship with your group, not three anonymous customers. That resolution has to happen above the POS, because no single POS can see the others.

Due diligence

Ask every vendor these

Including us. If an answer is vague, that is the answer.

  • What happens to my guest view when one location runs a different POS?
  • Can I see reservation occasions and reviews next to spend?
  • Is a guest who visits two of my concepts one record or two?

Keep your POS doing what it is good at. Add the layer that can see across all of them.

Bring an export from the system you already run. We will show you what is in it.
